I’ve been MIA lately, working on {r}evolution apparel (and, BTW, I have no idea why all of my links appear in all caps) and our Kickstarter campaign.

BUT. I’m back in action, and have been putting together some projects that I’ve been working on this Thanksgiving break. So hopefully I’ll be a little more present, and share some of the neat stuff I’ve been doing (like a trip to California, a shoot for a national ad campaign, the {r}evolution apparel shoot, and a ton of other cool stuff around Denver).

But first, this is the last set of photos from Prospect 2 New Orleans – a contemporary art biennial. You can see some more posts from their opening weekend here (my fave) and here.

The event below is the VIP reception, held at the amazing Martine Chaisson Gallery in the Warehouse District of New Orleans.

This was Prospect 2′s opening gala at the newly renovated Hyatt, a Thea Pagel production, complete with Mardi Gras Indians and amazing music and lights and dancing and food and pretty much everything that makes a party a party. There were cocktails, followed  by the Mardi Gras Indians who led the crowd into the Empire Ballroom – and, this was the first party in the ballroom in post-Katrina New Orleans. So it was a special and awesome night on many levels.

It was the opening weekend of Prospect 2 – a biennial art celebration with local and international artists, a bunch of parties, and the coolest ribbon-cutting ceremony I’ve ever seen.

The ribbon cutting was on Saturday in Washington Square Park, kicking off various art exhibits all over the city. Right after the ribbon was cut, 4 New Orleans high school bands, plus the Roots of Music, converged on the park – playing the same composition, marching in from all different directions. They all gathered in the park (with a documentary film crew catching the whole thing) and then the Pinettes led a second-line to the African American Museum in the Treme.

If you don’t know New Orleans, this will all look like insanity. (Seriously, there was even a goat at this event.)

If you do know New Orleans, this will look like a Saturday – albeit, a really fun one with great purpose.

Exhibits are on ’til January 29. If you can, go. Not only is New Orleans one of the coolest places on Earth, but its an awesomely incredible part of art in America.
